Purpose

Introduction

Were you the kid that would always dream of illustrating your own characters and adventures while growing up? Did you write your own stories and read them for your family? Did you dream of acting, animating, photographing the world, etc? Are you still that kid somewhere inside?

By all means, Welcome! You found the resource designed specifically for you. "My Shoebox of Dreams" is a blog set up to give you ideas and resources to work towards your dream today.

Inspiration

My name is Nate and I'm a pharmacy student that has the little kid I was still living inside my mind. My dream when I was "little" was to be an animator for the Walt Disney Animation Studios. I grew up with the movies of Aladdin, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, etc and I dreamed big. My dreams were slowly changed over time as I grew up; now as I grow older though I have a baby that looks up to me and I've realized that no one should ever give up on their dreams. My heroes from my youth were those that never would give up on theirs.

I have a passion for helping people though and I want to work in medicine as a pharmacist but I decided that didn't mean necessarily that I couldn't pursue my dreams on my own schedule in my free time. I started this blog to create an environment where people of all different interests could get together and help eachother learn how to pursue their dreams today. The wonderful tools we have today have made this more possible than for any other generation.

Resources

We have available on this blog contests designed for people with various goals or dreams but all we encourage is participation. We will set up contests that are oriented towards setting goals and timelines for yourself. The contests will vary a bunch as I am pretty random in ideas. Please leave comments and help each other, give critiques, find out what you like, and submit your own work; even if it's nothing more than a simple sketch.

Warning

This site is dedicated especially to providing a clean, wholesome environment where creativity can grow. This blog is oriented towards families so nothing will be accepted that is not family-friendly. If you're not comfortable with that standard then find another website...there's many that will love your work and ideas. I feel strongly that tarnishing art in any of its forms with profanity, violence, offensive images, and/or immoral acts diminishes the importance of the work by seeking to only shock others - it's not art that I like or will accept. Please find another website.
